Ten Tips For Writing Your Sales Page

by Jason McKinney

Let's face it, we always don't have the extra money laying around to pay someone to write that killer sales page for us. I know I don't! If you are the kind of person that has the extra money laying around, then you will probably just want to skip this article. But for the rest of us that may have to write a sales page, I will cover the things that you will want to include.
1. Grabbing Your Reader's Attention.
Your headline on the sales page must grab your reader's attention. You only have a couple of seconds to grab their interest before they are gone. Your headline must be carefully thought out so that the visitor will want to read more. You need to make them want to read the rest of your sales page, otherwise they will just click off of your sales page and you will not get the sale. Visit other sales pages that have made you make a purchase and review their headline. What about the headline made you want to read the rest of the sales page? You can always model your headline after the ones that grabbed your attention.
2. Building Interest in Your Product.
Now that you have grabbed the reader's attention with a great headline, you need to start building interest in your product. Your sales page MUST explain to the visitor why they would benefit from your product. And always remember never to talk about yourself, you are trying to sell a product so this is what the customer is gonna care about, they honestly don't care about where you live or anything else like that. The visitor just wants to know what this product can do for them so stick with the product.
3. Build Credibility.
Next you must build credibility in your product. The easiest way to do this is through the use of testimonials on the sales page. Just make sure that the testimonials you are using are 100% authentic and that you have not made them up. There are many different ways that you can get testimonials for your sales page, you just have to be creative.
4. Use Real Names.
You must use the real names for the testimonials you have provided on the sales page. Never just use initials as this will make your readers think that you have just made up the testimonial. Always make sure to obtain permission from the person writing the testimonial to use their name. If they will allow you, try to include an email address so your readers can contact the person to verify what they have said.
5. Guarantee.
Make sure that you provide your potential customer with a no hassle guarantee. A strong guarantee will actually reduce the number of refunds that you receive. Make sure that the visitor understands that you stand behind what you are selling and that if they are dissatisfied in any way with what you have to offer, then you are there to help. You must always include a guarantee on the sales page.
6. Build a Sense of Urgency.
Simply try using a version of the limited time offer theme. How many times have you seen this one used? It will appear in some form on 99% of the sales pages you will ever read. Why? Simply because it works. Make your potential customer understand that this is a limited time offer and once the special price is gone, you will never offer it at that price again. This is the easiest and most proven way to build urgency so that the potential customer becomes an actual customer.
7. Easy to order.
Always make sure that there is a link to order on your sales page. This one is a no brainer, how else would you get paid? Just make sure that the ordering process is seamless and easy. If the reader has to wait too long to get the order page up, then they will just simply go somewhere else.
8. Play on the Reader's Emotions.
You should always try to play on some kind of emotion whern you are trying to sell something. The simple use of a statement like "You can go on making no money for the next 10 years. It really doesn't matter to me. Or you can simply click on the link below and watch your life turn around starting today." This trick is used on almost every sales page that you have read.
9. Require Action.
You have to convince the reader that they owe it to themselves to purchase your product. You must convince them that your product will provide them with a better way to do something and that if they purchase your product they will not struggle anymore. You are basically going back to the emotional factor again. You are gonna try and convince them why they need your product NOW. All you are trying to do with this part of the sales page is to convince them that they need to buy right now.
10. Postscript.
Always use a postscipt on the sales page. All you do here is remind the reader that this is a limited time offer and when the offer is gone, it is gone. You can also use the postscript to throw is some type of bonus. It is a proven fact that more people will make a purchase if they feel they are getting a quality bonus for free. Just make sure that the bonus you are offering compliments your main product in some way.
The ten points I have gone over above is the basic outline that you will get if you pay a copywriter to write your sales page for you.
